Tenure & Financial Benefits
The fellowship runs for a maximum period of five years, starting from 1st April of the selection year or the scholar’s actual joining date (whichever is later). No extension is granted beyond the five-year period or the date of Ph.D. thesis submission.

Escort/Reader Assistance
- ₹3,000 per month is provided for Divyang (disabled) scholars.
HRA – House Rent Allowance
- Hostel accommodation can be availed through the institution.
- If the hostel is unavailable, scholars can claim HRA as per Govt. of India norms based on city categorization.
- HRA is not allowed if a scholar refuses available hostel accommodation.
Medical Assistance
- No fixed medical allowance. Scholars may use the medical facilities of their institutions.
Leave Provisions
- Earned Leave: will get Up to 30 days per year.
- Maternity/Paternity Leave: As per Govt. of India norms— scheme available for once during the tenure along with full fellowship.
- Intermittent Breaks: Maximum 1 year and will be allowed up to 3 times during fellowship and no fellowship during breaks.
- Academic Leave: Up to 1 year without fellowship for teaching assignments or foreign visits related to research work.
Eligibility Criteria
